How to add server admins
Adding yourself or your friends as server admins allows them to run console commands on the server, which gives you the ability to do things like teleport players, or spawn items. In other cases, you might want the ability to moderate your server while in game with the kick and ban tools.
Let's go over the steps to set yourself, or someone else as a server admin.
Find the username of a player you want to make admin
First, we need to get your steam username.
Open Steam, and go to your profile page. At the top, you will find the URL to your profile.
Your URL will look like this: https://steamcommunity.com/id/straya_dan
. In this case, the username is straya_dan
.
Find & copy your steamID64
Go to Steam ID Finder (opens in a new tab), type in your Steam username and click search
Copy the steamID64 (Dec)
value. This is your Steam ID that we need to add to your V Rising Server.
Add your Steam ID to the server
Open your server panel (opens in a new tab) and find your V Rising server.
Under the Management
section, click on the File Manager
.
Go into the following folders: save-data
-> Settings
and open the adminlist.txt
file.
In this file, we want to paste the Steam64 ID of each user that you want to make an admin.
For example, if we wanted to set two different people as admins:
43211234123434213
12342412544235245
Save the file.
Restart your V Rising server
Finally, to apply the changes restart your V Rising server from the console page under the System
section in the menu.
Enable the console in game
Now we need to make sure the console is enabled in the game.
Join your server, open the pause menu by clicking Escape
on your keyboard and select Options
.
Go into the General
section in the settings menu.
Find the Console Enabled
option, and make sure it is selected.
Open the console
In game, click the Tilde
(~
) key on your keyboard to open the console.
Enter adminauth
in the text box to become a server administrator.
You're now ready to run admin commands!
