How to change your Minecraft server version
Why might I want to change the version?
Newer versions of minecraft can be demanding on system resources, which is why we recommend versions below 1.16 for our starter-Minecraft tiers. You might also have a group of friends who all play a specific version of the game.
Whatever your case may be, it's extremely easy to change the version of Minecraft running on your server.
Changing your Minecraft version
- Log into your Server Panel (opens in a new tab) and select the Minecraft server you want to change the version of.
- Under the "Configration" section, select "Advanced"
-
Using the "Install Different Edition" widget, select the edition of Minecraft and Version number. We recommend sticking with "Vanilla" and then selecting whatever version you'd like to run.
-
(Optional) If you want to start your server fresh, tick the format option.
If you select the format option, all of your server files will be permanently DELETED
- Once you've set your options, click the "Install Different Edition" button
